The first decision to make is what intruder alarm is best suited for your home or business needs. A surveyor can help you make this decision.

You’ll need to make a decision to opt for a wireless intruder alarm system or wired one. Wireless systems use battery-powered sensors that communicate with the control panel using radio signals. Wired intruder alarm systems, need wires running to each sensor and the control panel. Once you’ve made that decision, you’ll have to decide on whether you want your systems monitored or just to ring outside your premises.

Your options are:

Bell-only intruder alarm systems will ring outside but do not contact anyone (such as keyholders of police)

Smart home-security systems will contact you or your keyholders though an app on your smartphone or tablet should your intruder alarm system activate.

A monitored intruder alarm system means that signals from your intruder alarm system go to our alarm receiving centre who will then contact the premises, keyholders / police or fire brigade depending on the signal received. Opening and closing can also be set up to protect vulnerable staff who may be working alone or late at night. If the alarm receiving centre doesn’t receive a closing signal the keyholders will be contacted. Also works for time keeping. The system would be monitored 24 hours a day and usually has the benefit of regular maintenance visits and access to 24 hour callout service.

There are different levels of monitoring intruder alarm systems which depend on your needs or your insurance company recommendations. They range from Digital Communicators, Digi-Air (no telephone line required), Dual Com at different levels, Redcare and Redcare GSM. A monitored system via our Alarm Receiving Centre can also add an App option.

Methods of monitoring your intruder alarm system

This is a cost-effective method of monitoring your intruder alarm system. On activation of the alarm, a signal is sent down the telephone line to the “Alarm Receiving Centre” (ARC), who in turn contact keyholders, police or fire brigade depending on the signal.
Digi-Air is an advanced digital communication device for secure alarm reporting to an Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) utilising the Gemini Platform. DigiAir monitors its radio communication path continuously and reports faults to the control panel via a relay output. The benefit of DigiAir monitoring is that there is no need for a telephone line.
DualCom GPRS – is an advanced auto-dialling Digital Communication Device for secure alarm reporting. It can transmit alarm signals to our Alarm Receiving Centre via radio GPRS path, the Radio GSM path, the customer’s wired LAN network (IP) in connection with the internet, and the PSTN (public switched telephone network).
 One of the most secure forms of alarm monitoring available, Redcare GSM has a back up of two paths and is capable of sending a confirmed activation to ensure police response even if the telephone has been cut. Redcare GSM uses the security of a telephone line with the added protection of a GSM radio back up path. If either is interfered with by an intruder, the other continues to monitor for any further alarms and transmits them as a confirmed activation – extra confirmation that an intruder is on the premises and that the alarm isn’t false.
